CHURCHES  &  MONASTERIES

The St. Mary's Jacobite Syrian Orthodox church at Malayidamthuruthu in Angamali diocese was established by the diocesan Metropolitan H.G. Mor Dionysius Thomas (Catholicos Aboon Mor Baselios Thomas I) in 1975.  The three altars in the church are dedicated to Holy Virgin Mary, St. Thomas the Apostle and St. George the Martyr (Mor Geevarghese Sahdo).  The 'Eight-day lent' in commemoration of the birth of Holy Virgin Mary is observed by the parishioners with great fervor and dedication; the main festival of the church falls on September 8 which is the concluding day of the lent period.  There are two chapels and two shrines under this church.  Various spiritual organizations like the Sunday School, Vanitha Samajam (Women's organisation), Youth Association, Anthiochea Viswasa Samithi etc. are functioning in the church.
